Garrett the Gangrel.

Story: Garrett was born the son of a Whore and a Gambler in the late 1700s in London, he learned the hard way of Survival and Loneliness, After his mother was murderd by his drunken Father and his father murdered by an unknown assailant (Some say young Garrett was responsable). Garrett was forced to leave his home. He wandered the country, soon travelling North to find a place he could call home, Here met a man by the name of 'Alain Durandu'. What Garrett found however, was something far different to what he imagined.....

After being embraced by Alain, Garrett served as his companion and childe for many decades, He was taught in the ways of combat, utalising the Claymore, Broadsword and Longbow, as was the custom of the Highland Gangrel at that time, as the weapons of the new age, such as rapiers and Flintlocks were far too pathetic and feeble for the brutes that they were. he became an expert with a Broadword and Dirk, striking fear into anyone who thought about crossing the small clan with dread. Over the years becoming more like an animal as each night passed he quickly grasped the Gangrel disciplines of Animalism and Protean.

Then, when Garretts master and Mentor dissapeared in the late 1800's and left him to face the world, Garrett left the clans haven and again, finding himself wandering, this time further away from the United Kingdom and for longer than he ever thought possible, into Europe and through Asia, learning the ways of the world and becoming more and more feral as the decades went by. Using Earth meld as a Haven from the murdering sun and taking rest anywhere he could. After the realisation that the lonely back roads of the world are getting far to dangerous for a lone kindred he finally decided to pitch up in Amsterdam, Netherlands. As a contractor to the Prince herself, some call him 'hound' some 'elder' but for how long?

Having very little Interest in the Politics of the Camarilla or the Stench of the Sabbatt, he does what he must do, to survive and find safe haven in these dangerous modern nights.

Personality: A Lone wolf by prefferance but he knows when sticking with the pack is beneficial. He always looks after himself, and does what he needs to do, to survive. This includes work for any Sects or Covenants. He does find enjoyment in life however, he has a keen interest in Jazz and Blues music, spending many a night in the rear of some back alley Bar. But when the need arrises, he is up for a fight. He still has his own strange sense of honor and Justice, and living by this code is vital to him.

Appearance Garrett is 5'10 inches tall and has a very stocky build, he has long blonde hair which is generally combed back and rarely shaves, so has thick stubble around his face and neck. Garrett will usually be seen wearing simply comfy clothes, he favours functionality over form, He has a Tailored leather trenchcoat which has various modifications inside to scabbard a broadsword, or hold a shotgun with various pockets for ammunition and trinkets. He also has a leather shoulder holster for his colt 1911 pistol.

So far it's a nice bio. Still unclear on a few edges. But overall, good idea.

Just a personal point of view:
from a psychological perspective, people from low social standards (like Garrett) tend to have low moral and ethical values. So standing up to help friends, even to death, would NOT apply to the majority of the population.

This is not hard to imagine: Someone who is proud of his heritage, his family upbringing, will have better self control than someone who just happened to be.

I know what you mean regarding the low social standards, however i didnt want to pidgeon hole him into the typical loner character. Think of the wolverine for example, he woudl help out a friend to death.

Well, thanks for explaining that. It is your bio, so you are free to create it as you see fit.

But the bio gave me the impression that Garrett is sort of an anti-hero.
So if need to make him like Wolverine, remember that Wolverine is more of a drifter. He wants to belong to an organization, the X-Men happened to be similar to the Camarilla.

I think that Garrett's personality is more like Batman, a loner angry soldier without the technology gadget.

In no way did i mean to create him like the wolverine or Batman, i suppose he just came out like that. I do however, like the Anti-Hero type.of character, in a not so comic booky way. the Camarilla comes in handy for him to offer safe Haven, vitae ect, i suppose in a simmilar way to the Wolverine and the xavier school.

I have a few questions:

So he was born in the 1700s, why is he still using claymores, broadswords and longbows?
By the eighteenth century, claymores and broadswords were old fashioned, cumbersome, heavy and outdated.
If you want a hand-to-hand weapon, I would say rapiers and sabers and cutlasses.

As to ranged weapons:
Garrett could use muskets, flintlocks and guns.
Bows in general were slowly falling out of favor since the invention of crossbows (and guns). Because they require immense strength and continuous training to wield.

I would say no need to edit the bio anymore. But you could just swipe the broadsword for a rapier.

Depends on how far out in the boonies he was I imagine, as well it sounds like his sire taught these skills to him and they were probably "old fashioned" at the time. But I agree there should be some mention of muskets, such as "He never liked those things, too slow to reload" or "His sire strictly forbid the use of these clumsy new inventions"

March, 2009: Since spending many nights in the city, Garretts inner beast is slowly diminishing, now fully in the Camarilla in London, a soldier for Serena Deschain, Garrett has a purpose and a proper means of survival. Learning new tactics for survival in the city, he is spending more time on the newley developed discipline of Presence, and is beefing up on his people skills, As being hated by everyone isnt good for business. This in turn, and his recent adventures, have earned him deep respect with his compadre's in the cammarilla, and has eventually led him to be in the position to have people he can call on for assistance, or even help.

Knowing that travelling is getting far to dangerous, he has decided to stay put, in Dallas USA with his cammy friends and along side the allies he has made along the way
Since Alain, Garretts old sire has returned, he is slowly letting go of his past and his fears, and is learning to move on and become a stronger Gangrel, Garrett hates him, but finds it impossible to disrespect him for leaving, although Alain has joined the Sabbatt, he knows that what he did, was best for not just Garrett, but for their clan also. May the rest of his nights be as kind....

An old flame! That is an awesome idea. Having an old friend who becomes an enemy would sure bring a good RP time.

Is Alain a playable character that belongs to another player? Or is he an NPC?

Alain is a char i created for Shadows Sabbatt chron, and have used in a game with Trogers before hand. I had to knock a few generations off for the chron, but regardless its still him

Sometimes when i play Garrett, Tom will bring him into the game briefly as an NPC, he was actually in the game me you and V last played together, right before the end.

So, Armed with a shotgun, a Truck and a moblie phone which he hates with a passion, He's decided to set off on the dark night roads again, he has two many loose ends to tie up, and Garrett hates having any loose ends, he wont spend anymore time watching his back, for avenging Assamites or petty so called 'hunters' and besides ''The city stinks worse than the effing nossys that infest the damned sewers''

June 2009: Garrett has found himself settled into Amsterdam now, working bascially, as a freelance agent for the Prince herself, perhaps he has finally found a place worthy of fighting for, and a group of Kindred that respect him and what he has to offer.

July 2009: Garrett and his partner, a Giovanni by the name of Jaden, have fallen in battle, trying to both save their friend Jessy, the Childe of the Prince of Amsterdam from eternal damnation at the hands of an ancient Tremere, and to stop an ancient ruitual from threatening the very survival of Europes Kindred. Jadens body was turned to Ash due to the extreme amounts of damage it had taken in the Battle. Garrett was buried in an unmarked grave somewhere on the outskirts of Amsterdam.

Should he be awaken, his story will contine.
