Possible First Screenshots and Art for WoD Online Next Month

Post by Gast on Wed Jul 01, 2009 7:58 pm

For those of you who maybe don't read other Vampire Forums,
the EVE - Newsletter just reminded me:

CEO HILMAR PETURSSON KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT GDC EUROPE
Attendees of the 2009 Game Developers Conference Europe in Cologne, Germany will be treated to Hillmar's keynote address "CCP: Winning the War." The focus of the speech will be the gaming industry's potential for growth in today's uncertain global market, citing CCP's history of challenges and victories as an inspiration for up-and-coming independent studios. Included in the presentation will be an exclusive first look at the company’s latest project, which is currently in pre-production.

Its very much possible that they mean WoD Online therefore I'm pretty sure they will show us the first Pictures of the game
and after that propably the Official Site goes online.

At least I hope so, since its the only other Project in Development at CCP,
unless they consider "Walking in Stations" (WoDOnlines game Engine) its own Project

if you ever played EVE you should know that CCP stands WAY over the concept of WOW ... i mean EVE is the extreme opposite of wow..

and as a lot of the staff is actually from whitewolf they will propably make sure their vision
of the world of darkness will be realized

I played EVE. It was point, click some buttons, then take a piss and if you get back you'll see how the battle turned out Razz costumization was awesome though, literally hundreds upon hundreds of skills and stuff to equip your ship with

you never been through tactical pvp then Very Happy

its less the combat of eve that is impressive but the fact that the world is defined by players, nothing works without them
its a very social game, and very well thought out but complicated enough to not be dull,
unlike WOW wich is dumbed down to the point 10million people can like it, whats that saying?

Shit must be awesome ! Millions of flies cant be wrong.

I am very interested in seeing how WOD comes out. I have played EQ, WOW, D&D,HGL and others. But by far the best game to date for character del. would have to be D&D online. You can follow a set path or do whatever the hell you want. For most of the world following the path is ok, but for us RPG people of the world we want more. We almost expect it. I hope CCP really brings that to the table. Eve online is a great game in some respects, but others it is very lacking. For example I do not believe you should have to be logged in to skill up thats crazy. Nobody wants to leave there machine running for hours when they are not at home or are off watching a movie in another room. To skill up on something. Thats like old EQ swimming stay in the plane of Knowledge and swim in the fountain tell you max out. I also hope they use a real engine like the unreal engine or Crytek engine. Because I want to live WOD not play a game that is ok at best in graphics. The whole point in making a game that will bring WOD to life is showing of the world has a whole. I want to sit at my pc at launch day can go wow transforming from a human to a wolf was so cool I am going to do it another six times before moving on. I love great visual graphics. WOW use to be a great game tell they killed it with all this lets please the average gamer crap. That is not what makes a game great. It only brings the stupid people out to join the fun. I am also hoping this game is NC17. Not PG-13, because we all know WOD is very dark and not for kids. In MMO gaming to date that is what drives me nuts. Is insert random teenager coming up to me can I have some money or run me through here. Or my favorite lets cry and whine because I didn't get insert item here. It's enough to make you want to kill them. Maybe I am going crazy here, but thats the one thing that has drove me away from 99 percent of MMO gaming.

Kaymien mentioned a couple good points. Let's hope the producers of MMO-WoD would check VTMR and NWN players and see what they like and what they expect to see in the new game.

I think they are mostly looking to the whitewolf forums, and The Camarilla Player Community.
Some presence of devs was noted in PV Forums as well,
I kind of doubt they will look into the VTMR community much as its really really really small now.
Also the Fansite Forums that are allready around are prolly looked at.

I am very sure that CCP and WW will come up with a good MMO that will feel like nWoD and Requiem
where lots of fun is to be had in a social-Playerdriven Enviroment.
Especially since most of the CCP Devs have been long time PNP requiem/masquerade players themselves.

It will probably turn into something like WOW.

Your Brujah are tanks your Tremere are the DPS casters.

Same old shit, you can hope they will go a new rout but im not crossing my fingers.

I agree with Tem, recent years have thought me not to put any faith in this industry. Humans are lazy by nature and developers are defenately no exeption, most believing "WoW is making millions, if we copy that formula and sell it we'll make millions too!'

you guys are way too negative about this Razz
i really suggest you take a close look at EVE and interact with some of CCPs devs.
I know some of them from betatesting and quality assurance...

also keep in mind that CCP is its own publisher
75% of the MMOs out there are like WOW because the publisher demands it makes money fast and quick, like WOW does

also note: no such thing as tremere in nwod, and bruja only as bloodline Razz

I Dont think people are being negative, they just know what to expect.

I hope to god this wont be another WoW clone, or fail before it starts, but I agree with Isador/Tem, it aint worth crossing my fingers.

I played Eve, it WAS unique in many aspects but the combat was slow, boring and required very little imput on the part of the player other then equipping what you want to use, pressing the fire button and pressing the orbit button

i want to see a game that has the graphics of Bloodlines or better, combined with the Disciplines of Redemption (Bloodlines Disciplines sucked), and i would also like to see a complete charactersheet. (so basicly i would like Bloodlines with better disciplines and all clans)
