Speaking of guild wars..

Post by ShadowLance on Tue Aug 11, 2009 3:47 pm

Up late, can't sleep. Made this.

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/7451/rinvalakall.jpg

A PvP character I've been greatly enjoying. Not just for the effectiveness but the style/personality.

Sadly I have a little background and personality thought up. Damn VTMR habits Shocked

Anyways, equip is a weird mix of everything. Each piece of armor is from a diff armor suit, the off-hand "shield" is actually a necromancer focus, which is just there for looks and the small energy bonus. The throwing spear does mild damage, and I don't use a single spear skill. The Hyena does everything, and it really tears people up.

But I guess that's like speaking a foreign language to anyone who doesn't play GW haha.

(oh, and if you were wondering, the red/blue are just different teams in PvP)

And on a diff note. I've been up extremely late the past few weeks. We usually get back from the hospital around 10pm my time. Which is 1am for east coast USA, and god knows what time for the rest of the world. So I play guild wars and titan quest to kill insomnia. Good news and bad news with the family member. We're still waiting and watching though.

I am guessing from what you wrote that your toon is a RaO Ranger with a Hyena pet and a Paragon secondary.
What did you use that build for? HA or AB?

About Titan Quest
I used to play it a long time ago, but I got bored when I finished Greece and beat Gorgon.
My character was a Ranger with Nature and Hunting....Ah good old times!

Back to more important stuff.
I hope your relative gets better really soon. All that hospital stay is not good at all.

Hah, no actually. RaO is nice when you're both doing damage, or you're doing the KD-Daze combos, or spreading conditions with pet+spear..

But I just purely kill with the pet. Spear is just for extra DPS.

One of the higher DPS builds I've made actually. I think you can get 90-100 with one of those glass arrows+conjure type builds, but then it lowers a bit when you recast the preparation/enchant, down to 80-90. And that's all blockable.

My pet build does 60-70 unblockable DPS thanks to Otyugh's Cry, then an extra 20-40 (blockable) DPS from the spear. So 80-110 total. Kills most casters in a couple seconds. I can't test the DPS now because they changed Enraged Lunge to PvP/PvE and great temple is PvE... and the PvE version is completely different from the PvP version. So glad I tested before that Shocked

Monks drop like flies.. usually panicking mashing stances and casting guardian, only to take hits for 125 from pet. 16 beast mastery haha. It's really satisfying to get rushed by an assassin, sic pet on him, throw up a blocking stance, and watch pet tear right through his Critical Defenses and kill him in 2-3 hits.

But yeah, this is RA. I really like AB too, but I haven't been in a guild for months. Not a fan of HA. Just takes too long to get playing. GvG is awesome, but I haven't found a guild that does it regularly in ages.

Titan quest for me was one of those games where I was really excited at first, played half-way through, got bored, quit. But then it sat on my shelf for months and I gradually got interested in it again. Then when I started playing again I really appreciated it for what it was. Sure its not perfect, but it's pretty damn cool, mixing the masteries, sending enemies flying..

Pretty good. I guess you have a high Gladiator title?
PvP is not my thing. I do some ABing and faction hunting. But other than that, I am PvE person Smile

I have a primary Ranger as well. But I prefer to get a dervish secondary, equip a scythe and stances. In PvE, I just run into mobs. I can take them easily in NM if I have decent healer and support heroes and henches.
I use the same build for PvP (but more carefully, of course).
Before NF was released, I used warrior secondary and equipped a sword for condition inflicting. (That build was pwnt greatly against wars, sins, rits, gons, rangers and dervs. But it bad against mes, eles, monks). I could take any melee opponent one-on-one, except for 55-monks and Illusion Weaponry Mesmers.
The Dervish scythe attacks are less specialized against melee opponents, but they fare better against the other classes.

You know maybe i should toss guildwars on me comp again sometime Razz

My favorite PvP build was the Death Necromancer, cause nothing says "Muahahhahaha" then first watching the enemies gloat over killing one team mate, then watching a level 30 fleshgolem rise from the corpse Very Happy

Re: Speaking of guild wars..

Post by ShadowLance on Fri Aug 14, 2009 1:00 am

I do RA, TA, AB, and GvG. I've never bothered with titles, too easy to just buy them online or farm them with monk or in TA, to the point where even glad 9-10 isn't impressive.

I was in TA one day, and I saw a team with two glad 9's in it. I was like "holy shit!" and joined them right away. They were both sword warriors.. and started the match without a healer. I was like "uhh, is this a new set up? Why don't we have a healer?"

"Oh, we don't need one"

I was like, sweet! This will rock.

Then we get owned in 2 seconds, the glad 9's doing absolutely nothing to the enemy, just swinging away with swords.

They are all confused why it didn't work "I think we need to rush in faster".

"hang on, I need mending," says the glad 9 sword warrior.

So I'm like "how the HELL did you two get glad 9?"

"oh we bought our accounts"

Likewise, super easy to farm them. 1) just play monk/heal rit, 2) go in TA late night with a team of friends with a solid build and ventrillo, and get 30-50 wins. Can max the title pretty quick.

So yeah, I do have decent glad/ab/ha titles but I never display any.

I liked PvE once through, but PvP is where its at for me. I have hundreds of build templates saved (though most have been nerfed).

I just make a stock pvp character go in and fight and lose almost every time or run around my guild hall island thing.

Some good fun though.

Alright so here's my favorite arena necro build. People hate him on both sides of the team cause he spreads disease and summons the fleshgolem Razz But for some reason he syncs well with most teams, probably cause he hits hard and fast

Get Nighfall because it has Hero Battle as extra feature in PvP and has Heroes in PvE. Beside, it's two years newer than Prophecies and the story is a little better.

Shadow, Isador, you can add me, my IGN is 'Aero Silvergleaming' (all my toons start with Aero as a first name Razz)

The only PvP I have patience for is AB. Though I am only r4 now.
I lost my love to RA when we had to win 10 battles to get one glad point. I would ALWAYS win 7 battles, 8 battles, 9 battles, then get cocky and lose! After twenty or so times, I learned to hate RA

Aye, they changed that luckily. now you get some points at 5 wins, then more at 10, then more every 5 after, and so on.

But yeah AB is cool. I just don't like so much that running and capping > killing. So the better fighters don't win, the better runners do. Kinda weird idea, but still very fun and plenty of opportunities to score kills What a Face

Been trying to get my account for guild wars working for about a week now.

The customer support for NCsoft is appalling im playing 21 simple fucking questions with these assholes all i want is one simple answer MY PASSWORD and they keep jerking me around with automated answers or stupid questions.

I provided them with the serial number i used when i brought it and the email im using to send in my questions was the login for my account yet they want to keep fucking about.

hahah, most phone related help services are crap and pointless using, sometimes you get people who don't even speak the correct language well but hey thats just the way it is.

I tried Guild wars myself pretty good game actually, just can't get it to run on my main PC as it's like 300 years old.

No need to call anyone. Just boot the game and click Reset Password. It will as you for the email you used to register your CD key. Once you enter it, an automated email will be sent to you.

Of course, if you bought the account or used a fictitious email to register, then you will have to provide proof of purchase.

When i go in game and try to reset that it redirects me to a web page which isn't there.

I brought the game years ago so i don't have one of the NCsoft master accounts and im guessing that's what the hold up is.
